A De Jong attractor traced in real time: warm phosphor trails that fold into shapes which never quite repeat. Move through the field and the math bends slightly, like disturbing dust in a sunbeam.
Problem
Generative art online often defaults to particle networks and gradient blobs. The interesting math gets hidden behind a screensaver aesthetic.
Approach
We picked the De Jong map for its ghostly, asymmetric orbits and let each frame leave a faint afterimage. Cursor position nudges the constants, enough to feel responsive without breaking the form.
Outcome
A small piece that looks like found footage from a forgotten simulation: slow, tactile, and impossible to capture in a single screenshot.
